Do you enjoy working independently in a quiet small family office?  Our client supports a large Dallas based family with multiple investments and provides services to the family and their related entities including preparation of financial statements and tax returns, tax planning, cash management, assistance with investments, estate planning, oil and gas mineral management and property and casualty insurance.

Job Description:

Part-time 25-30 hours per week

Accounting/preparation of financial statements, cash flow projections, income tax projections and cash management for multiple entities including  individuals, corporations (including S corporations), limited liability entities and trusts. Accounting includes investments in real estate ventures, brokerage accounts (including positions in publicly traded partnerships) and oil and gas royalty interests. Preparation of information, including trial balance and journal entries as needed, for use in preparation of tax returns.

Required Qualifications:

  • Five years plus experience including experience in public accounting firm
  • CPA with minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts in accounting for real estate ventures, publicly traded partnerships, and brokerage portfolios including sales of investments
  • Experience working with multiple entities
  • Familiarity with Form K-1s and loan calculations
  • Expertise in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently in quiet office of 7
  • Excellent references

Helpful Qualifications:

  • Prior accounting experience in a family office
  • Familiarity with CCH ProSystem fx
  • Familiarity with legal documents including partnership and LLC agreements, leases, note agreements
  • Oil and gas royalty accounting experience
  • Familiarity with property and casualty insurance and life insurance
  • Familiarity with passive loss limitations; tax basis versus book basis for investments
  • Real estate tenant common area maintenance and property tax allocations
  • Employment tax forms and calculations
