MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

The Associate Planner assists the practice leader (and wealth advisor) in providing high quality financial planning and wealth management services to assigned clients and in the operational management of the team, including but not limited to, new business development and maintaining current client relationship.  In addition, he/she may assist in providing guidance and direction to other team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Continue to maintain and strengthen existing client relationships maintaining 90%+ retention.
  2. Meet with prospective clients to educate them about firm services and determine if appropriate match for services.
  3. Collect relevant financial information establish goal and priorities for preparation of financial plans/annual reviews.
  4. Develop and present financial plans for individuals, business and organizations.
  5. Analyze financial information to determine present and future financial needs.
  6. Develop observations and recommendations for practice leader review; recommend strategies and action plan for implementation of financial plans/annual reviews.
  7. Present / assist in presenting financial plans and annual reviews to clients.
  8. Manage client investment accounts to ensure consistency with financial plan/stated client goals.
  9. Supervise and mentor staff planners and para?planners in development of financial plans and annual reviews.
  10. Provide direction for the completion of meeting agendas and ensure appropriate scheduling.
  11. Manage the team production schedule
  12. Ensure required coordination and/or collaboration with allied professionals is submitted early and followed up on in a timely manner.
  13. Manage the implementation of annual Plan of Action.
  14. Track and ensure completion of all follow up action steps, execute trades and submit and track insurance submissions.
  15. Ensure completion of all reports necessary for meetings in a timely matter (as defined by firm policy).
  16. Identify needed documents and applications for implementation of approved recommendations.
  17. Ensure completion of all follow up tasks.
  18. Assist in client servicing issues beyond the skills and knowledge of the Para?planner and/or Service Associate.
  19. Assist in meeting team Wildly Important Goals (WIGs), by identifying sources of new assets under management (AUM), revenue opportunities, and referral sources.
 
   

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Position may supervise staff planners assigned, Para-planners (as assigned) and coordinate client servicing with the Service Associate.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level of study in Finance or Financial Planning or related field of study from a four-year college or university.

DESIGNATIONS, LICENSES, and REGISTRATIONS

  • Certified Financial PlannerTM designation is required or be obtained within one (1) year*. FINRA Series 7, 63, 65/66 required or be obtained within first six (6) months.
  • Texas General Lines Insurance license desired.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management and/or clients.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Self-directed, motivated, establishes and maintains relationships well. Proven time and project management skills.
  • Strong Windows PC skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to learn and utilize financial planning and company proprietary software and tools.
