I’m a guy. Is this for real?

Candidate Background

Our candidate was a successful professional with eight years of experience working as a pricing and billings operations manager for a printing ink and pigment producer.

After five years working in the same role for his current employer, however, his career had somewhat stalled. His skills and experience warranted a move up, but promotion opportunities were few and far-between in his company.

This individual was what you'd call a classic "passive job seeker" – open to making a change, but not actively searching for new opportunities. With a baby on the way, he wasn't eager to leave a secure job – and certainly wasn't submitting his resume to job postings.

Then opportunity knocked.

Our client, an online HR and payroll solutions firm, was having a difficult time finding qualified candidates for their senior manager of pricing and billing role. When they contacted us to help, Brigid Lipps was ready for the challenge.

While simultaneously employing a variety of proven sourcing strategies, Brigid ultimately found our candidate on LinkedIn. She reached out to him immediately to gauge his interest.

"Is this for real?"

When the inquiry came in from Mom Corps, our candidate thought, "I know Mom Corps recruits business professionals, but I'm a guy – is this for real?" After speaking with Brigid directly, his concerns immediately evaporated – and he wanted to learn more about the opportunity.

Here's what happened next:

This gentleman and Brigid had a candid conversation. During their talk, the candidate expressed legitimate concerns about leaving a secure job with a baby on the way.

When Brigid explained the employment opportunity in detail, however, he was greatly intrigued. Over the long-term, the new position offered:

  • The stability he needed (with an established, national employer)
  • Competitive compensation (important for his growing family)
  • Ample room for professional growth (which is something he really wanted)

He agreed to send Brigid an updated resume. After two phone screens (one with Brigid, one with our client), the process quickly gained momentum. All parties saw a potentially great fit, so they proceeded with in-person interviews.

Within a month of starting the process, our client offered our candidate the job. He readily accepted and has thrived in his new position from day one. Our client has an amazing new employee, and our candidate has a secure, fulfilling position that leverages his strengths and offers excellent opportunities for career growth.
