Of course you have a resume, but have you ever thought about managing your resume? Managing your resume helps keep it up-to-date, tailored to the job search, and making it work for you at a moment’s notice. We’ve got a few easy tips to refresh and manage your resume.
- Keep a master resume document with all your jobs and all the bullet points you can think of under each job. Use this document as your home base; update it whenever you work on a new project, move, learn new skills, obtain new certifications, or change jobs. Start from this document to build new resumes, tailored to the jobs for which you are applying.
- Try and limit your resume to one page. Two pages is fine if you have over ten years experience, but don’t go more than two pages. Not everything needs to go on your resume.
- Formulate an objective statement. Aligning your interests with the job shows potential employers that you’re focused and truly understand the role.
- Stand out from the crowd by listing measurable accomplishments in a clear and concise way.
