Though Ford Motor Company argued that an employee with a medical condition needed to be present in the office to perform her job, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals recently ruled that she has a legal claim to discrimination and retaliatory termination.
Of particular note, the court stated that work can reasonably be done anywhere an employee can perform the job, and technology advances mean that collaboration no longer requires face-to-face interactions.
